This Jewish year (5768) is a Shemita (Sabbatical) year. Amongst the Mitzvot of the Shemita year is that the Land of Israel should not be worked, that any produce which it produces of its own accord must not be traded for profit and that such produce must be treated in a specified way. We will discuss some of these issues at the Shabbat Mincha shiur this Shabbat, Parashat Bereishit, all being well, with an update planned for the blog.
